Shadow Empire multiplayer, less harmful way
Synchronization
Syncthing lets you synchronize your save folder so you don't have to pass the save around manually. Install, run daemon, accept folder from other player, point to a folder within your SE's "savedgames". Save to same file.
Notification
sewatcher notifies you when your turn is up. Run it like this:
sewatcher config.yml
And in config.yml:
games:
-
name: game
file: /home/user/se/savedgames/shared/game.se1
turn: 3
Turn numbers start with 2.
Planetgen settings
- Type: whatever
- Disable story modules, they are rather boring
- Tech level 4 to get more balanced and straightforward start
- Severe violence -- for more minors' pushback
- Robinson Crusoe -- majors are broken
- Spread out -- to give players more space
- Detailed generation: make sure pressure / (g * 1000) > 1 to make air forces viable
- Password & PBEM
- Slower speed -- to have time to use all technologies
- Regular difficulty: more effectively disables Foreign council
- Give AI more time to think
Gentleman agreements
- Don't use postures: they add only stupid micro and some are weirdly worded or don't work as advertised.
Secrets of Shadow Empire
- OOB list
- Deep logistics lore
